Technology Club - Peabody Elementary

From creating 3D models with TinkerCAD to programming with Lego Mindstorm robotics, a group of young technologists at Peabody elementary are learning the ins and outs of using technology to create real life technology applications and devices.

The Technology Club is comprised of half boys and half girls showing that girls and boys both have as much interest and skill with technology devices and concepts.

Building robots are just part of the learning. Troubleshooting and problem solving are a large part of the creation process.  Today’s task was to build a sonar sensor to detect other robots as they approach each other.  Key to the learning was a discussion of the speed of sound and how that could be used to judge distances between objects.  Using laptop computers the kids learned how to interface programming with physical devices and sensors.

Michael and Amy Shimniok, are parents of a 2nd grade student. They volunteer their time to work with the 5th grade students. The club is being sponsored by Tammy Falcone.
